"I am extremely proud for SIA-India for marking its 1st Anniversary with some significant milestones achieved in its maiden Year. Along this journey in one year, SIA-India has played a critical role in the industry - from being a focused Industry Association to be formed in the Space Sector to creating its presence felt strongly across the ecosystem in such a short time."

Dear Patrons,
30th March 2022 marks the completion of one year by SIA-India.
We take a moment to look back at the last twelve months to highlight the progress this association has made as "Thought Leaders" for the Satellite Communication Industry in India. SIA-India has strongly voiced the interests of the satellite communication ecosystem in India by consistently representing the industry's interest at the highest Government levels for policy-making, regulatory and licensing matters. We have helped bring experts to opine on critical issues related to the SatCom industry and helped build consensus for various submissions to the Regulator. Our events have been a platform for the industry leaders to come together and discuss numerous issues which are critical to the industry which is still at its nascent stage in India. Our position papers and white papers have helped to create awareness about international best practices and have been well accepted by the industry and Govt alike. We strive for excellence in our endeavor to represent the Satellite ecosystem in the country.
2021 has been a promising year for the Space Industry in India as a number of policy directions and reforms set by the Govt. not only encouraged private satellite industry to take advantage of them, but also created a new space industry frontier for manufacturing and employability.

The year 2022 holds many promises and emerging new trends and business opportunities in the Indian Space and Satellite Industry.
It is with great pride and optimism for the coming months that we take this opportunity to share key areas of focus as we move forward in our journey.

Upcoming Conference |
'Satellite Enabled 5G Applications and Services' |
30th March, 2022
15:00 - 18.00 (IST)
SIA-India is organizing a virtual conference on the topic 'Satellite Enabled 5G Applications and Services' on Wednesday, 30th March 2022.
In the overall communication landscape, be it for global telecommunications or entertainment networks, the satellite communication sector has consistently evolved through transitions and disruptions. Generations of increasingly powerful satellites have enabled "behind the scenes" networking, not just in rural or remote areas as is normally attributed, but even in our urban environments delivering entertainment through DTH, enabling ATM transactions, supporting over 75 billion transactions on stock markets etc. With the right enablers in place, satellite networks are well suited to join terrestrial and wireless carriers for the next wave of market opportunities. Massive investments and technology disruptions in space initiatives provide a fertile ground for satellite networks to increase participation in the global telecom industry.
This conference aims to put the spotlight on some of these opportunities, the technology and the frequency spectrum that enables satellite communication to provide applications and services that complement other technologies to complete the communications infrastructure requirement in the country.
The half day conference will address matters on Satellite 5G Use Cases and Balanced Approach for Spectrum Allocations and Satellite Integration in 5G.

DG connect:
"Satellite based communication is very different from terrestrial communications, both are distinct technologies and governed by separate rules and regulations. A forward-looking approach by policy makers is needed to adopt the best practices based on technology and market dynamics in line with international best practices.. In India the satellite is a sun rising industry and it is important that regulatory certainty be maintained for its growth. The role of satellite manufacturers and startups are to be encouraged by all means to make them globally competitive."
