Dear Patrons,
It gives us immense pleasure to present to you the first edition of our newsletter.
The proposed Spacecom Policy-2020 addresses various aspects of space based communication, technology and applications, opening up massive opportunities for Non-Government Private-Entities (NGPEs). This opens up tremendous opportunities for them to participate in this phase of India's growth. With the sector opening up there are new opportunities for satellite component manufacturing, design and R&D, software for satellite launch and services etc.
As with every new opportunity this too has brought about new challenges in its wake. It is SIA-India's endeavour to take up the industry's concerns and address it through various platforms - intervention with policy makers, debates and discussions, research and reports, networking, intl collaboration etc.
In the short time since our launch in March '21, SIA-India has made strong representations to Dept of Telecommunications and NITI Aayog around the issues of 28 GHz bandwidth, C-Band among others. We have submitted the industry's position to TRAI and spoken up for the SatCom industry during a recent TRAI OHD on Consultation Paper on Licensing Framework for Satellite-based connectivity for low bit rate applications. Please read our submission here.
In the days and months to come we shall endeavor to create a strong focussed platform for the wide ecosystem that makes up the SatCom industry in India. Towards this, one small step is to collate news from all over and offer it to the industry.
SIA-India Newsletter brings you the fortnight's news for ready reference.
