SIA-India welcomes the TRAI recommendations on satellite frequency bands for low-bit-rate connectivity. The regulator has come up with path breaking recommendations that will go a long way in giving a much-needed boost to the fledgling industry innovative applications such as IOT.
The recommendations will go a long way in giving a much-needed boost to innovative applications such as IOT, M2M etc. The recommended licensing framework impacts issues of spectrum, terminal sizes, entry fee, license fee, bank guarantee, NOCC charges, Spectrum usage charges, royalty fee etc. It will promote technology neutral solutions promoting optimisation and growth of the industry.
It is very encouraging to note that most of the responses by SIA-India have been incorporated in the TRAI recommendations. As per study by NSR a Satellite IOT & M2M global retail revenue is set to grow from 764 ml $ to 2.27 bl $ by 2030.
SIA-India held its 4th Executive Board Meet on Thursday, 12 August, 2021 to discuss way forward and post conference on "Satcom Emerging Trends-post reform era" held on 4 & 5 August 2021 agenda items including others, which are:
To bring out a compendium of all the relevant topics discussed and the recommendations made during the conference for consideration by relevant authorities.
The association has created hi-level committees to discuss the challenges faced by the various segments of the industry and help carry their issues to relevant authorities. The committees are open to members only.
